The Jesus Camp Movie

I just watching part of the Jesus movie and had to turn it off.

The reason for that is that I could just not take what was being said and done in the movie any more. The things that were really getting to me was how extreme the people where in the movie.

See I come from that type of background in my Christianity. The first church that I went to when I got saved was not as “extreme” as this but they were religious. The only thing that I can say about them being religious was that it heavy. You just felt burdened down by all of these things that you could or could not do. I saw the same thing in that movie. How to Scientifically Prove God Exists

This is a Christian blog and I believe in Jesus but I have to give props to this Islamic fellow for using the Torah or Old Testament to prove God exists scientifically.

It Had Been a While Since We’ve Been to Church

Well we were finally able to make it to church this Sunday. It had been a few weeks since we had made it. I can try to come up with a list of excuses but there really is only one reason:

It is hard to get to church with 3 little ones.

Last weekend we were dressed and on our way and our daughter fell asleep during the 10 minute ride to church. It just so happens that church is right at the time of her first nap of the day. Read More »

Finding an Equal Balance in Life

My wife and I attended our church’s membership class a few weeks back since we had decided that we were going to start getting involved in the ministry. She had decided that she was going to work with the kids and I was going to get involved with the music/video production ministries. After attending the class we both emailed the respective Pastors for each ministry.

My wife received her response first and was set to attend a orientation meeting to get acquainted with how they do things. I got a call a couple of days later and was encouraged to come to the next Praise and Worship practice to meet the team.

My wife and I did not make it to either meeting. Read More »

Stand Still and See the Salvation of the Lord

As I have mentioned I have had some issues at work with interaction with some people. I understand their frustration as they rely on me to provide them tools to do their job. What I have had a difficult time understanding is why the get so upset when they have better tools now then before I came along.

This all came to a head a couple of weeks back when my boss and I got blamed for them not being able to do their job properly. My boss got pulled into a meeting with the CEO and a couple of VP’s to find out why we (I) was lagging (at least in their opinion). Read More »

God’s Blessings can be Humbling

Sometimes you really do not know how much you are truly blessed and sometimes God will give you a glimpse of the degree of blessing that is on your life. This happened to me recently.

I got a email from a job site that I used while looking for the job that I presently have. Their announcement was that they had just added a salary search function to their site that gives you the average salary for a position in any geographic area that you choose. I was interested to see how I stacked up in the position that I was in. Read More »

Overcoming Obstacles to Obtain Victory

I get a daily e-mail from Joel Osteen Ministries and sometimes I read them and sometimes I do not. Today’s caught my eye though as it was labeled “Overcoming Obstacles to Victory”. It referenced I Corinthians 16:9 which says – “A wide door has been open to me and with it are many adversaries”.

In my own life I have been experiencing a little bit of adversary lately at my job. It really is not an one person it is just the particular position that I am in and the responsibilities that come along with it.

Like most people I was hired to fill a need and/or fix a problem. Like most people I found out that the problem was a little bigger then I anticipated coming into the job. Because the scope of the work is quite large it has caused some frustration for me and for the people my position was designed to help.

Dealing with Death as a Christian

Death is something that as a Christian we are taught is a “good thing” because if you are saved then leaving this life means that you are with God in heaven for eternity. That is a whole lot better then going to hell but death can still be a scary thing.

As you may know the famous Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin died while filming by a stingray. It was a total fluke of an accident but it happened none the less. I was surprised to see the news on Monday morning like most people. What did shock me though was my reaction to his death – I was devastated.

Blogging on a Sunday

So here I am sitting at my dining room table. There is not a sound in the house except the hum of the refrigerator and the click of the keys as I type. The whole house is asleep.

The thing is that it is 10am on Sunday morning.

On a usual Sunday morning we would sitting in church right now after making mad dashes around the house to get the kids and ourselves ready.

Not this Sunday though. This Sunday is a little different. Everyone is a sleep.

Being Frustrated as a Christian

Being Frustrated as a Christian I am not normally the type of person that let’s things get to me. I try to be like the duck that lets the water roll off his back. I try to walk in love because not walking in love is not cool to God.

I especially do not blog about work because many a blogger has gotten fired for doing so. I am going to break that rule today but I am not going to say anything here that I would be concerned about if my boss read it. In fact everything I am saying here we have already talked about.

I have to say though that for the last 4-6 months that I have been frustrated with my job. The source of my frustration stems from what I thought I would be doing when I started to what I actually ended up doing.
